Monetary donations

Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.

Auntie Helen's is a 501(c)(3) organization nonprofit organization and donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable under the law.

Food distribution

Auntie Helen's needs an individual(s) with trucks or SUVs to pick up food donations from our sponsor, Trader Joe's in Pacific Beach, at 9pm.

Then, the food is dropped off at the thrift store in North Park for refrigeration, and to prepare the items for distribution the next day.

Volunteer at the store

Each week, we have around 60-75 volunteers making our mission possible. Volunteers are needed at Auntie Helen’s thrift store to sort, fold and hang donations, and disbursing them between various designated areas.

Your help will allow Auntie Helen’s to run the thrift store's in-person and online shopping more efficiently.  Volunteers may also be asked to help with bagging and distributing food.

Donate clothing and supplies

We accept new and gently used merchandise (clothing, books, household items, furniture, books) for our thrift store.

We also accept new items for hygiene kits, like toothbrushes and individually-sized toiletries.

Donations Accepted at the back of the store:

Currently donations are accepted on

We will soon be accepting donations on additional days!

Testimonials

“I recently volunteered there and I was most impressed with the caliber of people working or volunteering there, and that it's well managed and quite clean.  I've shopped at every thrift store around central San Diego and their prices are among the lowest.  I got the feeling of a deep, well-established pool of local community donors who help keep the inventory fresh daily with quality stuff.  And of course, hats off to them for donating their proceeds to other local non-profits who provide love to our brothers and sisters affected by HIV.”

“Fabulous find of a thrift store... that is also a nonprofit in San Diego. Rod helped us around and shared the promos they were having. This shop has so much history and helps the community. They have a lot of great merchandise and are so friendly. Definitely look them up and shop as well as support a good cause!”
